“There’s just something about standing in the water fly fishing that brings it back to what it’s all about.”

Like most fishing enthusiasts, Patrick started fishing in small ponds with his father as a young boy. Growing up on the South Shore of Massachusetts meant that Patrick was able to chase both fresh and saltwater species: including trout, largemouth and smallmouth bass, striped bass, bluefish, false albacore, and bonito. What started as a way for a father and son, and then eventually a younger brother to spend time together turned into a lifelong passion. His passion, interest, and dedication for all things fishing has taken him through many regions, including northern New England and the Midwest, and many different fishing conditions in between in search of biting fish. He is fortunate enough to live in close proximity to the Swift River, and has averaged over 150 days per year on it for the last five years. Patrick and Anthony met while fishing the Swift River a few years ago and quickly became friends. After many hours fishing together, the two began collaborating on a way to bring their fishing success to others, and Early Rise Outfitters was born.
As a guide and fellow fisherman, he is known for his patience, knowledge, and enthusiasm to educate. If you spend a day on the river with Patrick, you can rest assured that he will do everything in his power to provide you with a fun, memorable, and successful fish-catching experience.
When not guiding, Patrick can be found spending time with his wife, three young children, and pets. Patrick finds great reward in coaching multiple youth sports and being an active outdoor enthusiast.
Anthony has been avid fisherman since he was old enough to hold a fishing rod. Since trading in his spin tackle for a fly rod some years ago Anthony now spends over 200 days a year searching out trout in Massachusetts waters. Anthony likes to consider The Swift his second home and can usually be found there with his wife and or his 10 year son who has become his favorite fishing buddy. Even at only 10 years of age, under the direction of his father, “little Anthony” has become proficient enough in the use of a fly rod, to land countless numbers of elusive Swift River rainbow trout. An avid fly pattern designer. Anthony has collaborated with Patrick Barone to design and extensively test many Swift River specific fly patterns.
Always open to new ideas and techniques, Anthony has incorporated Tenkara into his arsenal to catch the sometimes stubborn Swift trout. “The slow current, gin clear water, and size of the swift really does make it the perfect place for Tenkara.”, Anthony has said. With Tenkara Anthony has adopted his own “one fly” method, fusing traditional Japanese techniques with modern fly tying materials.
Whether it be large Brown trout sipping dry flies, tight line nymphing to stubborn Rainbows and wild Brook Trout or trying your hand at Tenkara, Anthony will be happy to help you find fish and get them to the net
